Digital Storytelling : Putting Students’ Passion for Technology to Good Use.

Digital technology in education enables us to find new answers not only to what people learn but also to how they learn, where and when they learn. On top of that, digital technology can help boost the role of teachers, rather than just communicating knowledge, they can become co-creators of knowledge, coaches, mentors and evaluators.

Digital storytelling: is a multimedia approach to sharing a narrative. Creators can combine video, photography, sound, text, music and often a narrative voice to share their stories in a digital-media format.

In the classroom or even through distant learning ,students can create digital stories in collaborative groups, taking on different roles such as the writer, director, editor and narrator.

In my previous posts, I shared a sample lesson in English Language to enhance reading and comprehension skills, and I thought that the best way to use students' passion for technology is by using digital storytelling where it help students in identifying vocabulary and expressions that they have learnt or heard regularly and see them in use. Frequent telling can help them to learn new phrases and expressions with the correct emotional reverberation.

For teachers who would like to engage storytelling in their classroom or through distant learning, this website EdTechReview provide tips and tools for teachers on how to use it.

I found this PDF  from (eusd.instructuremedia.com) , and I thought it might be a good start for teachers / parents to begin using digital storytelling in this pandemic crisis. You can click on the story icon and you will be taken into a new window where it displays a story with visuals and audios.
