Sample Lesson

I designed a sample English lesson to target reading and comprehension skills for third graders.  Most of students struggle to memorize vocab words that are essential for their writing skills. This lesson  will help students learn and use Christmas vocabulary words by 

  • completing practice drills.
  • playing cooperative games.
  • writing an original Christmas story experience.


The Learning objectives of this lesson are:

Ø Students will be able to Use Christmas vocabulary when speaking, reading, listening or writing.

 

    Specific Objectives: Students will be able to:

  •      Recall what they have learned about Christmas vocabs.
  •       Differentiate each word if it belongs to the picture.
  •        Develop new vocabulary word.
  •       Write using Christmas vocabulary words. 

The following power point ( prepared by me) aims to introduce you to an instructional design lesson for English  Language ( reading and comprehension ) for Grade three.

Instructional design is the process of taking information and framing it in a way that makes it interesting and easy for learners to understand.  It  blends what we know about: The learners.  The subject matter. How people learn. The technology. Instructional designers create and deliver educational and training materials to learners from all walks of life in a variety of ways. Digital Storytelling : Putting Students’ Passion for Technology to Good Use.

Digital technology in education enables us to find new answers not only to what people learn but also to how they learn, where and when they learn. On top of that, digital technology can help boost the role of teachers, rather than just communicating knowledge, they can become co-creators of knowledge, coaches, mentors and evaluators. Digital storytelling: is a multimedia approach to sharing a narrative. Creators can combine video, photography, sound, text, music and often a narrative voice to share their stories in a digital-media format.
